< Augusto Baratto, painter >

The element of matter, now characterizing his work, lead to restless vibrations, creating - within the mellow structures - spaces in which he is able to bring his peculiar landscapes to life. Everything is compressed into essential images, natural dispositions of elements, unusual reactivity, crowded with real stories similar to imaginary stories; a chronicle of present time through everyday annotations. The wide brushstrokes of coloured mortar, translate into an investigation of visible reality and of the emotions it generates. He creates thick and luminous forms filled with light, readable signs, offered to the others and coagulated to release them selves from the impressionistic matrix. The guiding principles of his research are two: an objective one, generating volumes from volumes, shapes from shapes; and a second bringing him close to the new figuration, to the inner structure of the object, that very object that realism only considers from the outside.
